WARCRAFTMOVIES

(Click the above link for full download)

If you care about quality and want to get the most out of the video, download it. I put more time and editing into this than my previous two arena videos, so hopefully that equates to a more enjoyable film.

Music:

Luminary – Amsterdam (Super 8 & DJ Tab Mix)
Anton Sonin & Amx Feat Sari – Undone
Ronski Speed – The Space We Are (John O’ Callaghan Remix)
Grabriel and Dresden Feat. Molly Bancroft – Tracking Treasure Down
DJ Joop – The Future

Spec: 41 / 5 / 24

Notes on the content

Duels:

Frost Mage - I made an article about predicting the blink so you can find here. Some other things to keep in mind: Try to kick the elemental whenever possible, delays on damage and the inability to nova out of stealth is great whenever possible. It’s a really good idea to do this right before you’re going for a vanish. If deep freeze is off cooldown, and you get nova’d, you’re likely to be frozen soon. It’s a good time to use a cloak or vanish here to hopefully immune it, but if you can delay this slightly the mage will be more likely to waste their deep freeze. I also find that gouging the block is pretty gamebreaking if you’re confident in your latency and reaction time. If not, spamming shiv is still probably your best bet.

As mutilate, even if you play your best, I think a top frost mage has the advantage, varying on mage and playstyle.

Rogue - Dueling Mahiko a few nights ago, the fight feels as though it’s evolving. Shadow dance rogues have the ability to (more…)

Tip Against Mages, Last Arena Video Comming Soon

Monday, March 9th, 2009

I’ve been having a pretty busy couple of weeks both in life and in game. My guild has started working on 3d Sartharion and the encounter itself is easily the biggest challenge of the expansion thus far. At the same time, WOTLK is giving me a taste of the work involved in being a GM. It’s a rewarding role, but at the same time it feels like a constant battle to contain constantly swelling drama and maintain some order. Add to that task trying to do arena on live, work on videos, get a team put together for Tournament Realm, throw in some mid term exams and a bit of social r & r IRL, and this all equates to me having less time to write articles. But that’s more than enough crying for today.

Tournament Realm is up, and while I haven’t spent a ton of time there, it’s already a fun chance to  play with and against some great players I wouldn’t get a chance to see otherwise. I played some RMP with Milkofamnisia and Neurological, although only briefly. RMP still feels strong, even amid the faceroll of hunters, death knights and paladins that comprise the majority of teams on TR.  RMP isn’t what it was in the past, but it at least has a chance to beat the majority of popular comps. It has the versatility that most rogue teams lack. I even got a chance to run some triple rogue with Mahiko and Buddhist, which was a lot of fun.

Oh and if you missed the ESL finals, you should check out this clutch performance by Orangemarmalade of HON.

I don’t whether this is something new, but I never see or hear about it, and when I do see it (more…)

Give me your Votes! More Bad News for 3.1

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

I feel a bit lame asking for this, but hook me up with some votes by clicking here:

It’s the Top Skilled 2008 Warcraftmovies contest second round of voting. Thanks!

More Rogue Nerfs Incoming

I can’t even believe this because rogues have already been excessively nerfed (and DKs, Hunters, and Paladins have gone untouched) but check out this blue post.

An Overkill change would have required more redesign of the talents and abilities than we were willing to make for a small patch like this. We’re also unconvinced it would have fixed the problem alone.

Basically, it might have helped stealth burst, but wouldn’t have helped with unstealthed burst, which was still too high in our opinion. Two Mutilates and a Cold Blood Eviscerate within one Kidney Shot duration is a ton of damage, and is possible with unglyphed Vigor and no Overkill. Add a partner or an interrupt or whatever and it can mean death for most players in very few GCDs.

Overkill and glyphed Vigor are something we will probably look at for 3.1, depending on how the current changes shake out.

So (more…)

Full Download

I recorded most of these clips a few weeks ago. We haven’t had time to play much since then other than a few days this week, which luckily gave me a chance to finish up the video before the coming content patch. This is a compilation of 3.08 Arena as well as a few duels.

The arena footage consists of more mut rogue / frost mage content against some of the best players in the Rampage battlegroup.

I have one 3v3 clip in here but its mostly 2v2, as that’s the only bracket I’ve really focused on this season thus far. The clips were recorded between 2300-2470, and at one point we were the highest rogue/mage in the world.

Mage Rogue / Rogue Arena Strategy – I posted an article a little while ago about this, so if you’d like you can check it out here.

There are a few duels in here as well, mostly against (more…)
