My Thoughts on the Video

Starting with another epic intro by bizzlsnaff this movie is one I had no trouble watching start to finish, it kept me entertained the whole way. It clearly focus on some of Unmercy’s signature moves, found throughout arena, duels, and some bgs (don’t expect many bg clips but the druid waving was more than epic).

What separates Unmercy’s recent vids from other WOTLK pvp videos is the he has a lot of creativity. A lot of these moves are very situational, but FoK vanish sapping or situation ally ambushing and re-saping can definantly have practicle applications in duels or arena, as we can see here. Practical or not it sure is fun to watch.

I talked about prediction in the past and Unmercy is someone who kind of plays with it big time. The thing is that he does it well. I still don’t think gouging intro cheap shot is the correct choice but it clearly works for him as he does it consistently. He also does a lot of prediction on blinding trinkets out of stun. It seems to me he has ingrained prediction so deep into his game play that there is some standardization to it, i.e. if he always gouges into cs a rogue can never early trinket cs. I guess It’s something to consider.

In any case this is one of my favorite rogue vids of the expansion thus far and is definantly worth a watch.

Site Downtime

I apologize for the site downtime yesterday. I’ll be working to get that spec post up as soon as possible.

Tournament Realm Dueling Experiences + Clips, Buddhist’s Subtlety Suggestions

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

I’ve been playing a lot on the Tournament Realm the past few weeks, not only in the actual 3v3 competition but doing a lot of dueling as well. Where on live realms, the majority of players don’t have optimal gear, on TR everyone has access to everything available at the pre KT gear level. The result? Rogues are depressingly weak 1 v 1. When the best players put on some defensive gear and spec defensively as well, you’d think a rogue could counter this by gearing and speccing offensively. Wrong.

Here’s a quick overview of each class as I see it 1v1 going in to 3.1

Death Knight – Lost cause once they go “anti-rogue”. You might have a hope on some shadowfrost or average blood dks on live that use considerable pve gear, but once they put on resil you’re probably cooked. Dwarf and you can forget it. Getting them to 30 percent is usually impressive. Your best hope is to open with cs gouge restealth, slice and dice in stealth, open cs ks  rupt vanish. Open again after DR with a cs ks dimstantle eva trank, and pray you force a trinket or mark of blood at this point. Once that happens you need to get a cloak prep vanish off. Open once again to try for a kill here. You can also swap anesthetic poison and shiv the hysteria off if they are blood if they trinket a stun before you blind. The problem? None of your vanishes can fail, and with a dk with drw, dnd, and deathgrip there isn’t much chance of that happening, at least not consistently.

Frost Mage – They already should win with moderate resilience. When venruki (or any top mage) goes gnome and gears defensively, this moves to what I consider unwinnable at the moment unless you get very lucky, although literacola says he’s making progress by opening and forcing a block with 2 vanishes, then cloaking after block for the kill. The big problem here is deep freeze (which they can kill you in if you don’t trinket), so you trinket that, and they can snap df into sheep and the duel is basically over. A lot of mages don’t do this as it makes the fight kind of a joke.

Warlock - at least rogues can beat warlocks, right? Enter destruction warlock Psyhawk. Here are some sample duels (nothing serious but it should give you and idea for the fight or kill 10 minutes if you’re bored).

Alternative Wegame Stream

At best this is a 50-50 fight as undead. As good a player as he is, a class that we supposedly counter and dominate is a scary duel, and not winnable without wotf. If you vanish away you will get shadowfuried out. He often chains stuns to deathcoils so vanishing one of those is out. Killing the pet is out because of demon port fel dom, and if this fight gets to a second set of drs and you have no trinket you lose. Health stone with talents, etc, is about an 8k heal non-crit. I think a series with him would be winnable, but, after 3.1 destro buffs? Good luck.

Warrior - Dueled sonydigital and dahis as well as some other warrior a bunch as prot or a prot / arms variant. They have (more…)

Warcraftmovies

For Full Download (Worth it for quality)

(in order shown)- Akrios, Saeyon, Mahikosan, Unmercey, Bizzlesnaff, Buddhist.

**The download is higher quality than the stream, however due to the large file size I understand if people are hesitant to download =P It’s worth it…**

The way it all began was about a month or so back after talking to Mahiko about doing some editing for him, I suggested maybe doing a compilation video with a few of the other rogues from around here. I explained how it seemed unusual that they all knew each other, were almost all on the same server….yet had never came together for a video – enter Bizzlesnaff. With some help, a little bit of nagging, and over 400GB of video files the product was this.

For this video, I wanted to be able to appeal to all kinds of PvPers and WCM watchers. I put forth my best effort into making something that arena bums, bg’ers, world pvp’ers, machinama peeps, and duelists alike could all enjoy – while still adding my own kind of style to it. That being said, I know many parts (especially the music) may not be the majority’s particular flavor, and if that’s the case I’d suggest just muting, playing whatever you enjoy – and rolling along with it. However – for a blend of skill, entertainment, and overall quality I think this video has something for everybody.

Notes (*what is in the video*):

- 2300+ 2’s and 3’s Arenas from various rogues. (the Celex POV clips are from Mahikosans 3s team)

- Duels / BGs / World PvP / Joke Clips

- There is a large variety of music used, however the majority is of the hip-hop variety.

- Champp Jones makes a guest appearance in the intermission portion.
