(click above for full download)

For the best quality download the full version.

Mostly rogue+mage / rogue+mage+priest arena, a few duels. Most of the 2v2 and 3v3 recorded around 2500. Teammates are Massive and Aeias.

Music

Pryda – Ironman
Pryda vs Deadmau5 – Armed Contact
Manilla Rising – Beyond the Stars
Buckethead – Jordan
Armin van Buuren Feat. Aquanuts – Deep Sea
Oceanlab - Satellite (Above & Beyond Remix)

Spec

I play the standard mutilate prep, which can be found on our spec page here.

Gear

I use as much PvE gear as possible (I think 70 resil) for 2v2. I use about 500 resil, 3600 ap 31 crit for 3s. I go max resil for 5s (I have about 850). If you want to know why I use PvE gear here is why.

Edited using Sony Vegas 8.0 and Fraps.

If you have questions, I’m not answering in game tells. Send me an email at feedback@roguerogue.com, and I will get back to you when I can (I’ll be out of town for a couple of days so don’t worry if I don’t answer right away).

Thanks as always for watching.

Trance and Progressive

I’ve gotten a lot of feedback regarding the music choices I’ve used in my WOTLK arena videos. Before I started using trance and progressive, I was aware that it’s not for everybody. It’s different from the general mainstream you see in most WoW vids although that’s not always the case. Even though not everybody likes it (and I’m not saying you have to) a lot of people who aren’t really familiar with the genre ask me where I find my music.

I really got into it over the past few years although I’ve always enjoyed it. Hopefully this post helps you if you’re interested in this kind of electronic music and don’t really know where to start. I really have to thank Tipss (see mage in eviscerate 8 or arenas: v II and V) for helping me out finding a lot of great tunes.

First, here’s a playlist with a sample of some tracks I like. Unfortunately, I can only use tracks that have already been posted somewhere using playlist.com, so most of these are at least fairly popular and there’s thousands of other great songs I’d like to post, but hopefully you can find something new or something you like here. I’ve also included as many tracks from my recent arena videos as were available on the site. If you’re going to listen I suggest using the shuffle feature.

Standalone player

So that’s somewhere to start from me, but here are some great places to start listening to trance and progressive:

www.di.fm – Great, free streaming music of all genres, but for this type of music check out the trance, vocal trance, or progressive channels. Tons of great shows from some of the leading dj’s in the world (some of which I’ve included below), very few commercials and great quality.

Some popular shows that I enjoy, a good place to start:

Club Elite Sessions – M.I.K.E. (aka Push) – Just after 4pm, thusdays – trance channel – official site

A State of Trance – Armin Van Buuren -2pm, thursdays – trance channel – official site

Trance Around the World – Above and Beyond – 1pm fridays – trance channel – official site

Global DJ Broadcast – Markus Schulz – 12pm, thursdays – trance channel – official site

If you can’t catch the shows they are always available on torrent or direct download shortly after, google is your friend here.

www.shoutcast.com – same idea as di.fm, if you’re not familiar with shoucast it’s server software for streaming media. It allows digital audio content to be broadcast to and from media player software, enabling hobbyists and professionals to create internet radio. Do a search for trance and it should bring up a ton of stations to choose from.

I also often search google for personal or professional trance top lists, like this one. Of course these are matters of opinion, but usually when people sound off about their favorite tracks you’ll find at least a few you can enjoy. You can usually preview the songs by searching youtube.

Some Mainstream Albums and DJs

Anything by Armin van Buuren (ASOT best of, “Imagine”), Tiesto (“In search of sunrise” series is amazing), ATB (“Addicted to Music”), Paul Van Dyk (“Seven Ways” is my fave from him), Paul Okenfold (“Tranceport” has some amazing tracks), Above and Beyond (“Sirens of the Sea” or “Tri-State” are both great), as you can tell by my last vid I’m a big Deadmau5 fan (“random album title”)

I’m really just scratching the surface here, there’s so much more and I’m really only hitting on the mainstream. Hopefully this helps those that ask me where I find this kind of music or people just getting into the genre.

Unmercey 7

(Click Above for the Link!)

This will be my last WOW US video, I am going back to China in 2 weeks to work. This video contains S6 footages on Cho ‘Gal server. It includes arena 2v2, duels, and BGs.

Song list:
Tyga feat. Lil. Wayne – Lay you down
Plain White T’s – Hate
Hollywood Undead – Sell your soul
Anberlin – Undeveloped story
Linkin Park – New devide
Orange range – Hana

Really just another quality video from Unmercey, if this was rushed because he was moving it sure didn’t feel like it. Not a lot of rogue videos can keep me watching but I thoroughly enjoyed the entire vid, but I had no problem watching this one until the end. Video quality was improved from past video, skill was high as always, and shadowdance was a welcome change of pace. Unmercey is also a genuinely nice guy and I wish him the best of luck in China.

RMP Wins MLG

Congratulations to SK US (Pooks, Sekko (Aka Enforcer) and Realz) on winning this leg of the MLG tournament as RMP. They did this in a dominant fashion, defeating the other top RMPs including the much heralded Hydra’s team, Complexity (who they actually lost to in mirror in a close series 3-2), and Gravitas Gaming (aka Duelists going for Glad), a scary RLS run by Kollectiv and Azael, and the ultimate RMP counter comp of BM hunter, Unholy DK, and Paladin (Who made a questionable choice moving to frost for the final). Not only that, SK did it in their first time together at LAN.

What does this MLG say about RMP? A lot of people cry buckets of tears about the strength and high representation RMP currently holds, but does this automatically make it an overpowered comp? There’s no doubt that it’s strong, but I don’t think it’s overpowered.

First, what makes RMP a solid comp is the fact that it has few direct counters. It rarely dominates another composition purely based on class, but at the same time it rarely gets countered directly. You always have a chance to win because it’s versatile and can play extremely offensive.

Second, RMP has been viable since arena came into existence. This means that a lot of players have a lot of experience with the comp, which builds teamwork and synergy and allows for the best strat selection. A team like BM hunter, Unholy Dk, Holy Paladin is something that hasn’t been around for years, so a team running it will lack the synergy and experience to be ready for anything, and that’s what LAN success requires.

Rogue: the Class that Never Changed, How we should Evolve

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Before I start I want to make it clear that the play style of our class was much different in the past and has continued to change as the game has evolved. Comparing even burning crusade arena to current arena where I think strategy and control has give way to a much faster paced, split second play style with a growing list of opposition abilities to worry about. The rogue has evolved and the rogue player has evolved. What shocked me, looking back, is how little the class itself has changed in the past years.

Our abilities and PvP damage cycles have been similar for a very long time. The standard cheap shot — > combo ability(ies) –> kidney shot –> combo ability(ies) –> damage finisher has been the foundation of the class for a very long time. The last class shaping abilities that we received were mutilate (which was essentially played the same way as backstab, but let’s forget about that), cloak of shadows, and shadowstep. All of these abilities came before Burning Crusade was even released. You could argue for shiv here as well, but I’ll get to that later.

WOTLK gave us some very lame abilities and class changes. It’s kind of a sad situation when none of our three 51 point talents are used for any high end PvP

other than shadow dance, which is minuscule in comparison to mutilate representation in end game PvP (actually, none of the top 100 rogues in terms of arena rating are anything other than mutilate atm) . Hunger for Blood is irrelevant as far as PvP is concerned. Killing spree is, for lack of a better term, retarded. I really dislike having a 51 point talent that does lots of random damage and ports you without control, for PvP it’s underwhelming at best. Shadow dance, in it’s first iteration as a set of vanishes was cool although it needed some adjusting. This was changed to it’s present form which is, in my opinion, a lot more boring than people realize. Essentially, all dance does is let you use those same stealth moves you’ve had for 4 years out of stealth for a few seconds. It’s somewhat interesting but still lacking in terms of creativity as a 51 point talent in what should be one of our best pvp trees.

Shiv was another one of our new abilities, but deadly brew and the present burst situation has marginalized it greatly. Fan of Knives is the biggest joke of all in PvP; it’s paradoxical to me that the most common PvP use for our big new WOTLK ability is to aoe out other rogues. Am I the only one who sees a problem with that?

In Classic WoW, one of the most popular rogue specs was cold blood / prep daggers. To be honest (although play style has of course changed, there are more abilities and burst) the removal of shiv really makes present day prep mutilate feel a lot like cold blood prep. WOTLK gave us some interesting talent choice opportunities but it’s pretty sad when the basics of PvP can be summarized in this flow chart someone linked me which I found pretty amusing. Of course this is an exaggeration, and what differentiates rogues is reaction time and decision making regarding cooldowns and strategy, but is this really that far off?

I want to say first that I don’t think rogues are out of balance. I do not want rogues to be buffed. Actually I think they are right were they should be in terms of balance, and I’ll cite SK once again here which has us right in the middle of high end PvP representation. That doesn’t change what I said above and that doesn’t make the class ideal. I know this all may look like complaining but here’s what the changes I believe would move rogues in a better, fresher, and more interesting direction.

Survivability

The biggest problem limiting rogues now is (more…)
