Introduction
Hey everyone, welcome back to the RogueRogue.com guide for the Icecrown Citadel raid. This is Separation and I am going to be covering the Lady Deathwhisper encounter. Lady Deathwhisper is the second boss you will face on your journey through ICC. The fight mostly consists of your tank’s handling adds while splitting dps between the boss and adds. Typically a raid leader will assign two groups for doing this, both consisting of one tank each and the rest of the dps. There is alot of target switching as a melee class during this encounter which leads me to the next section, explaining spec and positioning.
Spec/Positioning For Abilities
As stated in the introduction, there are going to be multiple adds up at a time during the encounter. Target switching is something that really only one spec is built around, that would be the 20/51/0 combat spec. As combat you should try and hold your cooldowns for add phases so you can get dps back up on the boss as soon as possible. What is interesting about this boss is that she is encased in a Mana Barrier which has a little over 11 million mana in 25 man. The object of the fight is to kill adds that she spawns on the left and right of the room, while maintaining dps on her mana shield. It turns into a two phase fight once you deplete her mana shield.
As a rogue there are a few things you need to look out for during this encounter. She will drop a green “Death and Decay” on a random person in the room which covers an 8 yard radius and will tick for 4500 damage every second. Your tanks should move any existing adds out of this so the melee can continue to dps, so be on the lookout to move quickly.
Now all this talk about adds, lets get to them next. There are going to be 3 adds she spawns during phase one on both sides of the room, consisting of two types of adds “Cult Adherents and Cult Fanatics”. I like to have the tank on my side listed as my focus target for tricks of the trade so I can FoK all the adds to him, that way everything gets to him properly without ranged picking up one. The add you need to be taking care of as a rogue is the “Cult Adherent” they look like a caster and typically will stop in place once they spawn and start casting spells immediately.
“Deathchill Bolt” is the spell you want to be looking for to kick, there should be another rogue or melee with an interrupt on your side so make sure the other Adherent is interrupted as well once they spawn. Another ability they have is a 1 second cast “Curse of Torpor”, if its not decursed immediately off the target it can increase some of your main abilities cooldowns by 15 seconds (Sinister strike/Mutilate) so its very important to try and kick those as much as possible. As for the “Cult Fanatics” they look like a death knight and will be picked up by your tank, these should be your last priority as they dont dont pose that much of a threat to your raid. I like to have all the melee burst the casters down the kill the last add which is usually a Fanatic. They do cleave so always be standing behind them and toss a disarm out on them whenever you have it available, your tanks will appreciate it. The last thing you need to look for in phase 1 is the adherents and fanatics ability to reanimate themselves. If the Caster reanimates, he will be immune to all magic damage so melee has to burst it down, if the the fanatic reanimates it becomes immune comletely to physical damage so at that point your casters should take care of them.

Closing
In closing, Lady Deathwhisper is not one of the most difficult or challenging boss fights in Icecrown. Everything I have covered so far in this guide should help you stay alive longer, be more efficient, and help your raid out handling adds during this encounter. To recap, tricks adds that spawn on your side to your tank. Kick casts from the Cult Adherents, move out of the green death and decays. And finally kick frost bolts and dodge ghosts in phase 2. Again if you have any questions at all for this encounter, your spec or glyphs, or anything at all please feel free to ask in your comments! I will answer everyone as quickly and best as possible. Thanks again for your time, the next few bosses will be released this week so please check back with us here at RogueRogue.com!

@ 2, both PvE and PvP are big parts of the game. Lots of people PvE (yes at first I was one of those people that said “to hell with PvE on this site”. But tbh scrolling past it isnt that hard, and I had nerd rage atm lol.
@ seperation. Expect more haters, but keep it up. Maybe make a post or two about the best PvE gear that can be used in PvP. Cant wait till you cover the lich king (lol).
Comment by TrueWan — April 22, 2010 @ 10:05 am
scrolling for less than 2 seconds is super hard
Comment by Akrios — April 22, 2010 @ 10:19 am
Seriously, your guides make it look so complicated, its not THAT hard.
1) Avoid green stuff on floor
2) Kill adds, and once they die, get on boss
3) Kick frostbolts
4) Dead boss
You don’t need a wall of text to explain that

all tho i had raided icc 25 lots of times and really got the hang of it,i still want to thumbs up for separation cause if u havent raided it yet or ur just starting it might be wise to take few min of ur time to look at theese articles,it might just be worth ur time…
keep up the good work..
Comment by Shadowace — April 22, 2010 @ 10:36 am
IF you are going to do PVE, dont cover the easiest crap, just explain fights like Council, BQ, sindra or LK. That would help some people i guess.

nice! dont worry bout them haters

I quite like the guides, loads of people are hating on them but they aren’t hard to just skip, I like reading them, they are well constructed and give a good explanation of what goes on and I am looking forward to reading the next one.

Bringing a PvE side to a PvP oriented side isn’t necessarily bad, though as #7 said, I think it would be of more use to post on more dire and complicated encounters. Putricide is now puggable in 25 within 1h30-2hrs, maybe even beyond, so sticking to the 1st wing is just repetition imo. You’re doing great with the detailed explanations, gotta give you that :]

You should cut the obvious crap taht one can read up on on any site, and cover more ROGUE SPECIFIC tips instead. For example:
-Save ToTT for tanks when adds spawns, generally you can’t force one inbetween addspawns.
-Feint and cloak can be used to effectively negate DnD on melee in p2.
-Cloak negates ghosts (naybe feint does aswell, not 100 on that one).
-Melee adds are disarmable (meh, not really rogue specific but we got the easiest-to-use disarm in the game atm).
Stuff like that… Anyway keep it up I guess.

hey…i just wanted to say, that maybe when u do post a boss encounter on here, could you throw in some info about the weekly quests that drop in icc? i know the frost giant one is harder than most of the bosses in icc. other than that, its good stuff…i like bein able to come to this site everyday and see new posts.
oh and Akrios…i cant find a good sony vegas torrent anywhere…any help with that would be appreciated.
Comment by chuge — April 22, 2010 @ 12:17 pm
Really? First off, pve crap …. secondly as good as your intentions this boss is now 4 months old? Anyone reading this site doesn’t give a shit about this. Maybe if you talked about the hard mode of it, which is absent. People goto places like tankspot.com for this stuff.
Comment by Dabal — April 22, 2010 @ 12:54 pm
@14 you can get something on isohunt.com
be sure to follow carefully the steps through installation and you shouldn’t have too much issues.

Comment by TrueWan — April 22, 2010 @ 1:24 pm
hey sep nice post i see what your intentions are here but if i could make a suggestion…you should skip the encounters that have been out for months now…focus on HM wing bosses and LK for the most part if your looking to squeeze PvE into a PvP site other then that gj!
Comment by neighborhoodrogue — April 22, 2010 @ 1:28 pm
You guys do realize that Akrios HIMSELF posted two Level 70 and 80 Rogue Mutilate PvE cycle videos right, and that you can find them here on this website.
I guess the people that REMAIN loyal would know that.
For the new Bloggers, welcome to Roguerogue.com, I personally look forward to both aspects of the game from different views. I honestly don’t understand why people would not want to enjoy the PvE aspect of a game that has PvP on the backburner.
TL;DR, if you want a PURE PvP guide that is CONSTANTLY updated; make 15+ high rated Arena and World PvP videos, make a Blog site, get a HUGE fanbase from all over the world and update that shit yourself.
A vast majority of you were pointed here by people that use this site to better themselves as rogues, don’t flame anything, if you are 2700+ rated in Arena, obviously you are doing something right and I don’t see why you would need to be here. If your guild is rocking 12/12 25 man Icecrown Citadel hardmodes then you definitely do not need to be here.
You will all be crying when you are fucking stuck on the Putricide encounter and crying out for a guide. SCROLL past the shit you don’t like, not a hard concept.
Keep at it Separation.

Stop complaining about the pve posts, you don’t have to read them. Some of us like to read them and its a huge part of the game even if we don’t raid. So please take your negativity somewhere else.

I honestly hope none of these raging children hating on PvE posts get to you, Separation. Personally, I do not enjoy PvE in the least, but more power to you writing about what you enjoy!

@ ushearak, you ever begin to think he’s busy, possibly with college and a social life. If you don’t like the post ignore it. L2 READ THE TITLE OF THE ARTICLE. ICC rogue guide part 2 lady deathwhisper, meaning its centered on pve, if you can’t stand pve then don’t put your 2cents in because honestly no-one gives a shit about your idiocy.
Comment by Mist — April 22, 2010 @ 11:44 pm
No need for a wall of text for a simple boss like this, I do apperciate you take your time to write this but it actually feels like your dragging it out because you want to stay here longer I mean after you done all bosses what are you going to do next..? An ULDUAR GUIDE!?!
Anyway I will start paying attention to the wall of texts when we come to bosses that requires brain activity and not common sense. No need to actually put things down here like “Don’t stand in green stuff” If you got DBM it will appear on your screen and most likely flash if you cannot see that nor understand that PVE isn’t for you.

@ the people bitching about PvE information on roguerogue.com, are you dumb? This isn’t a PvP site. As clearly stated in the url, it’s a ROGUE site. Anything pertaining to rogues belongs here. Rogue PvE. That belongs here. Rogues PvP. That belongs here too. Scroll past what you don’t want to read and quit bitching.
@Varmt, an Ulduar hardmode guide focusing on rogue roles might not be a horrible thing, lol. On most fights, it’d be fairly trivial (stand in light beams, DON’T stand in light beams, Kick that spell that takes your whole raid to 5% health) but on fights like Yogg+1, it could be pretty insightful. A lot of people still suck at Ulduar, since they cut their raiding teeth on lolToC.
@uschearak, if this site isn’t updated enough for you, find another. Get good enough for people to care about your opinion and start your own. What’s that? You aren’t? Oh, ok. So get better and stop calling other people lazy.

1) About PvE haters: maybe it would be simpler to add [PvE] or [PvP] right before the title of an article, so that people can quickly scroll this site and select the articles they want to read.
2) It’s nice that you like to write substantial posts about PvE bosses strategy, but still I think that even players who aren’t familiar with PvE are looking for short guides which only give the essentials for boss encounters, and not a whole story about it. The purpose of a guide is to be clear and to be easily remembered by a player, so I think you should write less about it. Still, good job, this site feels live again

baruch

separation dont mind em hates saying gtfo with these tactics , lameass bosses and wtf everybody knows how to kill em it aint worth showing etc but it is because a guy like me who never checked any guide for icc this post was useful for me.today i downed first boss from icc10 ..yey lol and im gonna hit the other ones asap thanks and continue with your guides for icc gl!
Comment by askelol — April 24, 2010 @ 6:34 am
@separation Yeah man, pay these faggots no mind. While Lady Deathwhisper isn’t the hardest of fights in ICC, this guide is very helpful for people who like to know more about a fight than the retard version: “don’t stand in fire, kill boss, roll on loot”.
Comment by Steale — April 24, 2010 @ 7:52 am
I really do appreciate all the “Positive” response in terms of my guide. I wish more people could understand the simplicity of my guide compared to others. If you already know everything about this fight then Im curious to see why you are posting here and saying “we already knew that”. Well technically you wouldnt know that if you had never stepped foot into ICC. I stated I would be doing a COMPLETE ICC 25 man guide and if I left 1 boss out, would it still be considered complete? I do hope through the midst of the trolls I am helping people out because thats why I am taking the time to write these.

Comment by Separation — April 24, 2010 @ 2:50 pm
@Separation- your guide do help. I like them for the specific reason that I don’t have to wade through all the stuff for the tanks, healers, ranged, or caster crap just to find out the two or three things that I really need to just look out for in the fights. Keep up the good work and don’t get disheartened by the haters.
Comment by Jacenus — April 28, 2010 @ 5:06 am
I think your doing a fantastic job with the IFC boss encounters. A lot of people here are giving you a hard time about posting these guides but I love them as other people said scroll pass them but instead they troll. I like the gudies detail on wth you are suppose to be doing in a raid as a rogue. Sometimes tp misses that and that’s what these gudies provide to the rogue community. Yes you may say that oh you noob L2P but what are you doing here. Again great job keep up the good work.

Just a few observations: I’m a pve raider (Doombunnies, Darkmoon Faire-EU)who also loves BGs. Got flamed in a BG the other day when, as usual allies lost because of lack of teamwork and I said I hoped they dont play that way in raids.. Queue flaming. However, Ive got to realise that these guys who just do BGs are plain wrong.. PvE is great skill building for BGs since in PvE you gotta work as a team or die. In Pvp BGs its all have a go hero stuff – and still die- or win entirely by the hordies being crapper than you. So bollox to this PvE vs PvP nonsense I reckon we need each other!!
