So in the past week or so two top rogues have released some arena videos, featuring some shadow step action.
So as I said, both of these videos show some shadow dance play. Both of them are also vary raw, with little to (in the case of woundman’s video) no editing. However, for those of us who don’t necessarily need the flash to enjoy a PvP video and can check things out simply for the game play, what can we take from these vids?
First, I’ll note that the general gameplay is strong. Both of these videos will give you a good perspective of consistent and standard top level shadow dance play. Reckful’s video was a bit more polished and had more 3s action. You get to see a lot of RLS as well as some RMP. Watching these games shows just how essential having an amazing caster dps teammate is in 3v3. You can really see the difference players like snutz or pookz make; they are the crux of a lot of the swaps. By the time reckful is shadowstep switching and dancing a lot of the times these target players are already placed in the perfect position and under pressure by the lock or mage respectively. This video also shows that although dance can be powerful, it’s still a spec that requires a lot of coordination and exceptional teammates to excel.
One notable maneuver in woundman’s video is his frequent use of shadowstep kick. This is nothing new to a lot of BC rogues as this was used frequently in the glory days of hemo/shadowstep, but since dance hasn’t been utilized until recently its nice to see again. Woundman shows how this tactic can be used reliably, and its something that a lot of healers don’t expect. It was also interesting for me to see some alternative Spriest/rogue strats, the comp seems to play a lot more fast paced as dance and hinge on early pressure.
Both videos are worth checking out for those of you looking to play more dance.
On a side note, I’ve already recieved some submissions regarding people interested in posting on the site and getting involved. I’ll be posting some soon and I’m in the preliminary phase of looking for people to help out here, so if you’re interested check out the post below for more information!

Reckful’s video is pretty solid. I’m liking the Mute/Kish character reference lol.
Woundman makes video editing unnecessary. Some people forget that skilled game play is all you need for a good video.
I think I might try dance after watching these.

i found shd not bad in duels vs warriors since you can blind and coordination in fight is much easier i see myself pulling much more burst which is good – burst abit than reset as assa its more toe to toe in my opinion

i play rogue since wotlk … i think im not the best player but i try to get better and would like to play shd ! =( what do u think about stacken armor pen ? like warriors

best part in reckful’s vid is around 7:42, he sets focus to druid, spins at him knowing he’ll fakecast ANTICIPATING SHS KICK on cyclone, then shadowstep kicks him on the 2nd cyclone. shows he is playing vs good ppl!
also the gouge trick at 7:30 is cool, reckful gouges and knows it will not break on damage because PW:S.

im not sure about arp i dont like they are able to stack mainly pve stat while keeping great dmg on low armor targets.. i know it is warr he should have best dmg on low armor targets.. but still.. we must stack some ap to get better dmg results .. its just how the warrior class works its good stat for em like for us ap
“also the gouge trick at 7:30 is cool, reckful gouges and knows it will not break on damage because PW:S.” another pro why i play rogue we can have so much fun with right timing:) at the same time reason why i like how vanish works now you have to think before vanish .. im not talking about vanish breaks by lags

Subtlety PvP 3.3.3a 04-01-2010
Last Update: 01/04/2010
The following is a collection of (hopefully) undisputable information regarding Subtlety PvP. The information provided in this thread will be updated as it becomes avaliable.
Maybe it’s worth it to make a post about this on roguerogue.com also. Like telling us whether we should stack armor penetration or not. I read on this site that it is not worth it to gem arp, but that stacking ap is the best. I recommend reading it.

Comment by Namasté — April 17, 2010 @ 7:51 am
Neilyo’s name is NeilMosunic
And Reckful is Byron Berstein
But Neilyo said in WMC that Reckful is his brother…i am really confused here lol.
SO its a mystery
Comment by Zuss — April 24, 2010 @ 9:34 am
Well Neilyo might be Reckful brother in terms of having 1 parent different, or Neilyo was just talking his gangsta language when every good rogue is his bro..
