Cataclysm

posted by Akrios on August 23rd, 2009

Well unless you’ve been hiding in a cave on the moon you’ve heard some information about World of Warcraft’s upcoming expansion: Cataclysm. Before I get into the rogue perspective, let’s get an overview of the main features we know about the expansion.

Cataclysm

General

  • Level cap will be 85 because developers wanted to focus on the right things: redoing Azeroth and providing more end-game content.
  • A new guild advancement system  will let you earn guild perks and level a guild through 20 levels with points to spend in a talent tree. You will access abilities such as cheaper repairs, less durability loss on wipes, or mass resurection.
  • Phasing can now add and remove terrain based on your progress. Coasts will be progressively more flooded depending on how far you are in a storyline for example.

Path of the Titans

  • Talent trees won’t be extended, you will just get 5 more talent points.
  • The Path of the Titans will let players follow a path (not restricted to classes), this is a new talent system with new skills and passive abilities.
  • A mastery system is being added as well, a lot of talents will be reworked to be more fun. The point is to get rid of a lot of the talent skills and not make you spend all your points in a talent tree just because it gives you more damage or higher crit chance.

Archeology

  • Archeology is a new secondary profession, not many details about this one but we’ll probably hear more about it in future panels.

Deathwing

  • Deathwing, the leader of the Black Dragonflight will be the main vilain of the expansion.
  • Deathwing heard the whispers of the Old Gods after the arrival of the Burning Legion, he eventually grew very powerful and also became very very crazy.
  • His plan was to catch the Alliance and Horde unaware with something so massive that it would bring up the Elemental Planes.
  • The Elemental Planes were created by titans to contain the elementals, they weren’t happy with this decision and some of them like Ragnaros got really angry.

Old World

  • We all left a little part of ourselves in Northrend and the old world will be much darker than it was to make heroism and brotherhood more meaningful like Warcraft should be.
  • Every zones will be revamped with new quests, items, and art. The old world will be a brand new experience and you won’t have to deal with the annoying agility/spirit quest rewards anymore.
  • Azeroth is now flyable. Pretty much all the zones will be changed to some extent, some of them like Elwynn Forest won’t change too much but others like The Barrens will be sundered in two by Deathwing.
  • The Wailing Caverns are now a lush and verdant Area.
  • Desolace now has a lot more waters and a lot of plants can be seen in the screenshots.
  • The Horde finally conquered Southshore.
  • Auberdine was destroyed and the night elves have set up a new camp north of it. Garrosh wants to expand the horde and has built a fortified camp at the south of the zone.
  • Stonetalon has been cleaned by the Goblins, Azshara will be the new Goblin zone, and are using quarries in the mountains of Azshara to build their town.
  • Apparently Orgrimmar will be rebuilt and reinforced with steel, it now looks a lot like Garrosh strongholds…
  • Undercity has been redesigned to be flyable, it now looks much more impressive from the outside.

New Races

Alliance – Worgen

  • Other races were discussed for the alliance, but the developers really felt that the alliance needed a monstrous race and horde needed something fun and tiny.
  • Genn Greymane closed the Greymane Wall to block the Scourge’s plague. Gilneas got nervous as the Scourge progressed to the south.
  • Arugal was a patriot, he called the Worgens to battle for Gilneas but eventually was surprised by how dangerous what he called down was.
  • Worgens are from somewhere else … or even someWHEN else. They have a wolverine temperament and spent a lot of time trying to contain the beast within.

Racials

  • Darkflight – Activate your true form, increasing movement speed by 70% for 6 sec, every 3 min.
  • Viciousness – Increase damage by 1%.
  • Abberation – Reduced duration on Curses and Diseases used against you by 15%.
  • Flayer – Skinning skill +15, you skin creature fast, and you don’t even need a knife.
  • Worgens can be all classes except Paladins or Shamans

Horde – Goblin

  • Goblins are a technological race from Kezan, their society is broken up into trade cartels run by trade princes. They are new factions and not the ones you can already see in game.
  • The Cataclysm hit Kezan really hard and it’s possibly destroyed. The goblins are now refugees on the Lost Isles.
  • As a goblin you start as a neutral cartel and eventually join the horde as you progress through the questlines.

Racials

  • Rocket Jump – Activate your rocket belt to jump up to 20 yards, every 2 min
  • Rocket Barrage – Fire your belt rockets at an enemy within 30 yards, every 2 min. (Shared cooldown with Rocket Jump)
  • Time is money – Cash in on a 1% increase to attack and casting speed.
  • Best Deals Anywhere – Best possible gold discount, regardless of reputation.
  • Pack Hobgoblin – Calls in your personal servent, allowing you bank access every 30 min.
  • Better Living Through Chemistry – Alchemy skill +15, Your potions give more health / mana
  • Goblins can be all classes except Paladin or Druids

Other Races

  • Updates and racial balancing is coming

Race and Faction Changes

Race changes will be available shortly after Faction changes. There is no point in not allowing that since you can’t really prevent people with multiple accounts to play both side on PvP servers anyway.

Stat Changes

Stats simplification
What we were finding is that in many cases things had just become so complicated that players were not making intelligent decisions based on their knowledge of how various stats benefited them. That sounds like what you wanted to have happened, but it really wasn’t. Instead players would pull up a BiS list, or plug the item into a spreadsheet. If the answer was “upgrade” they equipped the item. We could pretty much just give the items a name and art and make all the stats not displayed.

If you were one of those players who picked up a piece and understood how armor pen vs. attack power benefited you or whether defense was still worth collecting after you had hit crit immunity, then you were in the minority. Hopefully we can get back to a system where eyeballing an item’s stats has some chance of being right.

In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, there are plans to streamline the statistics found on items. We want to remove all unnecessary stats, make all existing stats understandable, and make all “core” stats more appealing. Here are some examples of such plans.

  • MP5: This will be removed from items and replaced with Spirit. All healers will be given a meditation-like ability.
  • Spell Power: Spell Power is being removed from items as well. Don’t panic, we’ll be improving Intellect so that it provides mana and Spell Power.
  • Attack Power: We’re removing Attack Power from items as well. Instead, we’re allowing Agility to provide the necessary Attack Power for leather and mail wearers. Strength will provide the appropriate amount of Attack Power for plate wearers. This means leather and mail items will no longer be desirable for plate wearers.
  • Defense: The Defense statistic is also being removed from items so that players no longer have to worry about juggling around “the cap.” Tanks will receive the necessary anti-crit from talents, like Survival of the Fittest.
  • Haste: Will also increase the rate at which you gain energy, runes, and focus. Retribution paladins and Enhancement shaman will have a talent that allows them to take advantage of this benefit.
  • Block: Block Value is being removed. Blocking will now always mitigate a percentage of damage.
  • Stamina: Players will notice more Stamina on gear as Defense, Spell Power, Attack Power and Armor Penetration are removed.
  • Armor Penetration: This ability is too confusing and “mathy.” It is being replaced with Mastery, a stat that makes you better at what you do.

Mastery

  • There are too many talents right now and a lot of them are boring and just give passive bonuses. (1% hit bonus, etc …)
  • The goal is to make talents more fun and useful, Body and Soul or Juggernaut are a good example.
  • The old passive bonuses will be automatically added to your character through the Mastery system as you spend more points in a talent tree. Spending a lot of points in Fury will give you extra crit, etc … this will be implemented for all classes.
  • Mastery bonuses will lower energy cost, increase your armor penetration, etc …

Path of the Titans

Path of the Titans is another great new feature. This new feature implements a third new type of glyph called “Ancient Glyph,” and as you can see, it is themed after the titans. These special glyphs are not associated with the Inscription tradeskill, and are also not specific to any class.

You’re able to unlock a path and progress within that path as you continuously engage in different aspects of the game. As you advance, you will be able to unlock special glyph sockets for your character. You can also respec your path at any time, in case you decide to change your path.

You earn these ancient glyphs by using the new Archaeology secondary profession to recover and trade in titan artifacts. Each path will have 2-3 choices per rank, and again, you can respec if you decide to go down another path.
– Path of Aman’Thul, the High Father
– Path of Eonar, the Lifebinder
– Path of Norgannon, the Dreamweaver
– Path of Khaz’Goroth, the Shaper
– Path of Aggramar, the Avenger
– Path of Golganneth, the Thunderer

You can earn progress down any of these paths by doing things such as questing, raiding, PvP, trade skills, etc., with a possible weekly cap for maximum progress. Over time, you’ll be able to unlock new ancient glyphs that will greatly benefit your character.

This new system will be accessible to all players at max level. Players will eventually be able to reach new ranks for ancient glyphs, encouraging them to further develop their characters. There is also a possibility that we will introduce whole new paths in future content patches.

The Trailer

Rogue Perspective on Cataclysm

  • They want to see rogues use more daggers, they’re THE rogue weapon and we don’t see enough of them. In Patch 3.2.2 they might add an assassination talent to make daggers more attractive.
  • One of the plans for cataclysm is to take a lot of the early subtlety tree and make it passive for the class. The unattractive stuff will be taken out to let you get the cool talents.

This is great. Early sub talents really are necessary and abilities like imp sap, master of deception or camo should have been made passive a long time ago as PvPing without them means our staple unique ability, stealth, is clunky and problematic.

I think the dagger concept may be accurate and it’s fair that they want us to use them, but I think the amount of rogues that use daggers at the moment for PvP is already more than enough. I think weapon diversity isn’t a bad thing but this information is somewhat vague so we’ll see how things progress.

Stat Changes

These stat changes really have a lot of potential to make the lives of rogues a lot easier. As it stands, rogues have a lot of statistics that we need to balance in order to be effective. The removal of attack power and armor pen will help because in reality having to stack a certain stat as a rogue usually means a loss in some other offensive stat. A good example hear is current gem choices. You have a lot of rogue who choose between agility and attack power, having to focus on one or the other. The fact that there is a choice means that there must be some sacrifice when choosing a stat, and hopefully with these changes that won’t be the case.

The haste change has a lot of potential as well. Currently haste is a very awkward stat that just kind of comes with our gear. When you look at the current iteration of haste in PvP for rogues it leaves a lot to be desired. Having a stat that increases energy regen should open a lot of doors.

Assassination Raiding fix Coming

…we drop daggers in raids. The only people who are super interested in them are Assassination rogues, but they have fallen behind Combat. We might boost Assassination without buffing its burst. Probably not through a new talent.

In 3.2 daggers have really fallen behind so this is good news for rogues that like stabbing instead of hacking.

Some other Interesting Cataclysm Features:

Cross Server LFG

  • This will let you PUG 5-man instances and search for groups through multiple servers.
  • It will come with its own reward systems. If you’re the leader of a PUG and complete the dungeon succesfully you will be rewarded.
  • It should be out for patch 3.3.0.

Cataclysm PvE

  • 4 Raids : Grim Batol, Skywall, The Firelands, Blackwing Descent
  • Dungeons : Grim Batol, Uldum, Deepholme, Skywall, Abyssal Maw, Blackrock Caverns
  • Old World Heroics: Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep

Tol’barad

  • Tol’barad is a mix of Lake Wintergrasp and the Isle of Quel’danas.
  • Every x hours the Daily Quests of the zone will shutdown and players will fight to capture the control points, the first team to get all of them wins.
  • The winning team gets access to better daily quests rewarding more gold/better items.

Reforging

It’s too early to go into a lot of detail on the new features, but the basic idea here was to make an undesirable drop possibly more desirable. It still shouldn’t compete with gear that is actually itemized for you.

As an example, letting someone turn stamina into a dps stat is something we’d be unlikely to do (or at least impose a lot of restrictions) since that lets you turn an undesirable stat for most characters into something good.

Think of reforging more as a consolation prize or as a way to work around things like hit caps, and not the kind of thing that clever players are going to be able to use to vastly min max their character power.

So hopefully that gives you an overview of the expansion. Next article I’m going to go more into opinion about it, whether this is will save WoW or kill it, a rogue wish list, and what it will take for this expansion to be a success. I will say now that there is a lot of potential here, but that being said WOTLK had a lot of potential as well and ultimately I think everyone can agree it missed the mark. 3. Maybe, just maybe because blizz is redoing pretty much everything, they will jump on the chance to fix some if not all of the stealth issues. What better time to do it then in a fresh start with a new explansion

  4. souds shitty in my opinion. got no desire to play in such game..

  5. I’m quitting this game…and this expansion just sounds like a desperate cry to get players interested again in WoW. Honestly doesn’t sound like such a great idea to me.

    Comment by Evolas — August 25, 2009 @ 9:46 am

  6. I really dont understand the people complaining. All you are saying is wow this expansion sucks. Please elaborate as to why you think it sucks. To me the expansion sounds amazing. Flying mounts in the old world, rated battlegrounds, and the new classes will be fun not to mention new raid content.

  7. Good read.

    Also, 1 question.

On the PTR, are you aware there is a fake bad Akrioss that tells people he’s you?

  11. nope, this season ended for me when aeias stopped playing in june. I’ll be looking to put together a new team for season 7

  12. well maybe the expansion is a final act to get palyers interested again, but blizz is actually trying and making the game more fun to play, so in my oppinion, their concept works! im really looking forward to cataclysm :)
nice sum up of the main aspects btw ;)

  13. Nice read akrios, really looking forward to the next xpack, to be honest just by reading the cataclysm info I want to fast forward the WoW time or something, kinda feel like there’s nothing holding me in at the moment, just been on a break, even though I miss playing, whenever I log on I just get kinda bored and end up running circles in Ironforge every day so this is just reviving my interest, staying at level 80 becomes a pain, looking forward to leveling my rogue more and try leveling a goblin and worgen through the upgraded azeroth and through gilneas which looks legendary to me.

    Comment by Jiona — August 25, 2009 @ 2:11 pm

  14. Sheesh I thought you gave up on posts haha I see what s going on, awsome post love the new assa buff I tried combat…yuck boring.

  15. @Twiggy

Umm…I don’t know about the rest of you but I HATE the idea of Flying Mounts in Azeroth. I was looking forward to being able to play again in the Azeroth maps, like old times. But once they said flying mounts would be able to be used there…/facepalm. World PvP is officially dead.

Time to move on to AION guys. I just don’t see this game going anywhere.

    Comment by Evolas — August 25, 2009 @ 4:16 pm

  16. the new xpac looks like a last ditch effort to save the game as so many players quit because wotlk sucked, hopefully they dont make the same mistake and rush this xpac too. the stat changes look like theyre catering to the ‘casuals’ and just dumbing everything down, but maybe a warr wont roll on my bracers anymore. what worries me is goblin rogues with the rocket burst racial, thatll be op as shit, i hope therell be a race change, cuz you know worgen rogues will be cool as shit.

    Comment by Bendickson — August 25, 2009 @ 4:23 pm

  17. With Aion and Old Republic coming up, this expansions either going to be incredible, or will destroy WoW. It doesn’t look like there’s going to be much in between. Blizzard’s already pushing their luck as is. The lore players are pissed at Blizzard going against lore so heavily. The Math / Theorycrafters are pissed at the simplification. The general population is pissed at the thought of a whole expansion of heavily reused instances and models.

    Comment by Aeth — August 25, 2009 @ 4:42 pm

  18. What are your thoughts on the rated battlegrounds?

    Comment by Faucheuse-Vek'nilash — August 25, 2009 @ 6:14 pm

  19. Who’s changing their rogue’s race to goblin? Will be fun to annoy alliance like they do to us with the gnomes.

    Comment by Ropes — August 25, 2009 @ 7:32 pm

  20. Guys – this is blizzard realizing that content gets stale and that in order to keep the subscriptions up and sustainable, they need to make new content (expansions). Personally, I think about 90% of the stuff they’re adding is utter crap. Yes crap straight-up.

The only thing I found somewhat interesting was that they were looking to simplify character attributes such as defense or attack power. I didn’t see anything innovative here – oh yeah the other thing I liked – no more hero classes – what a cluster fuck of an idea to begin with.

They realized how badly that affected gameplay and decided to stop it … quick.

Sorry this ride ends here – konichiwa bitches…

    Comment by Alc — August 26, 2009 @ 1:12 am

  26. Great article! I was really wondering how the new changes are going to affect us rogues. Haste to me seems kind of like a “meh” stat. Once it increases energy regen, that could be very helpful for us in PvP :)

    Comment by Speedycat — August 26, 2009 @ 2:09 am

  27. Blizzard have told me what to do does not matter, only a thief in my eyes and look forward to 85 of the rogue!

  28. hey mate, nice article!
I was wondering, why did aeias stop playing (quit?) and for the tenth time, where the hell is nition?
I really enjoyed your RM and RMP arena videos, GL finding a mage like him :/
    *how’s Eviscerate X going?
*what do you think of imp ambush in the standard mutilate build? helps you do some burst before you vanish some rogue’s CS..

  29. REALLY late… i mean its all over the place already. but thanx for the info? i guess? yeah looks cool to see pre bc again.

    Comment by darkshi — August 26, 2009 @ 10:50 am

  30. This does look like a good idea on paper, yes. But flying mounts are going to make ganking in Azeroth just about bad enough to have 2 accounts to have an 80 following you around. Not to mention poor TM and XR. Taking the stats and simplifying them is an amazing idea, Kudos for blizzard on that. Alliance get badass Worgen and Horde get…Goblins?…really? gay. Not everybody wants to be a gnome with a mohawk.

The only way I’ll keep playing is:

    Nerf plate-wearers.
Give more end-game daggers that don’t suck and make them a little easier to attain, they want us to use daggers, right? Then give us some daggers, Blizzard.

Someone said it before, this x-pack is going to make or break WoW.

    Comment by Mcstabz — August 26, 2009 @ 11:14 am

  31. Very comprehensive info on X-pac. I like the thought of going back to the old world. One of my characters will become a worgen if they allow race changing. Looking forward to how these changes may affect overall gameplay for rogues. Stat simplification and Reforging could changing gearing up. Also, that they are implementing the Mastery/Titan paths will allow there to be something to look forward to being 85 other than raiding for gear til the next patch comes out every 3 months….

    Comment by Wraith — August 26, 2009 @ 11:24 am

  32. World pvp has been dead since they released BC and took away the ranking system, maybe you were able to get a few fights that were in the old world against targets your level and World pvp in old world will just be like world pvp in northrend and outland, it’s been dead ever since the gankfests in EPL apart from a couple months of isle fun, and they’re planning on releasing a similar place next season anyways.

    Comment by Jiona — August 26, 2009 @ 11:41 am

  33. Let me start off by saying fuck Blizzard.

Oh yeaaaa, another expansion ! It’s the same old game recycled, with nothing new or innovative. I stopped playing 4 months ago, and I’m glad I did.

There is nothing appealing to this game anymore.

    Goodbye WoW.

  39. /agree

I don’t see much else interesting in this game. I can easily tell that half my server population quit just by trade chat and logon time, or lack thereof. I’m just ready for D3. They are not getting my money on this expansion. Not when they will just release another expansion 6 months later. That’s the equivalent to doubling your subscription price. $180 per year AND 50 dollars per expansion.. no thanks.

    Comment by Feight — August 27, 2009 @ 12:26 pm

  40. We can’t really comment on cataclysm until we know details about talent changes. At the moment it seems that blizzard are aware of the failings of WotLK pvp and are keen to address them. This is probably the biggest revamp of game mechanics since betas. Overall I’m looking forward to it. It can’t be worse than Wotlk.

  44. I’m probably going to continue playing. Hell, I’d probably be playing even after Cataclysm. I just play this game because it’s fun, I have alot of RL friends that play it, and alot of people play it. I hate the fuckers that once they quit WoW, they say a bunch of bullshit about it because they were addicted to it in the first place and are trying to convince themselves it sucked anyway. I play WoW like any other game, so should all the top players.

    Comment by Jizzthethug — August 30, 2009 @ 6:31 am

  45. Nice post.

One thing puzzles me. Are they going to release the Icecrown Citadel raid before Cataclysm? It would seem kind of weird to shift focus back to Deathwing and the old world without dealing with Arthas properly first.

    Comment by Salty — August 30, 2009 @ 11:02 am

  46. Oh and as for the changes, if they can actually pull off improving the gameplay with talent overhauls and avoid throwing balance out the window while doing it, I bet it’ll be awesome. I’m not sure about the stat simplification change though. Need for spreadsheets to me seem to be more of a symptom of complicated and diverse class mechanics rather than too many stats. Still, I don’t think it would hurt the game in any way.

  49. I’m not even sure if I will buy this x-pac or not. I’m becoming TERRIBLY bored and furious at what this game has become. Flyers in Azeroth is another hit at world pvp *Sigh* and, I myself playing warlock, what they have in mind for soul shard system is ridiculous…warlocks will be new Arcane Mage? This x-pac will make or break WoW. Honestly, I’d be surprised if this x-pac is worse than Wotlk, but hey, I remember when we were all bitching about TBC, yet now we want it back, lol.

  50. There are a few things that are confusing me. In the trailer you can see that they want to change the whole old world, I assume that means for everyone not only the people that buy the expansion, otherwise you would kinda ”force” people (not that they are not doing that already with expansions) to buy the xpac, because otherwise there’s no way people without the xpac could play with someone that has it. Also the lvling process, will it be changed ? Do you have to lvl somewhere else from 1-60 ?

    Comment by dn — August 30, 2009 @ 6:51 pm

  51. ^ I heard that there will be like an off & on switch for the old and new world. + if people who just bought WoW #1, they prob wouldn’t be able to see the people in Cataclysm.

Looking forward to seeing you tear it up on Blackrock mate! LMFAO he even took Excentric (from the FFA at the end of Eviscerate Arena IV)with him!

Make us proud on Blackrock Akriios!

  68. Hi Akrios.

I’m having problems in Arena consistency and i blame this on feeling tired sometimes when i play.

i notice when i haven’t had a great sleep or other things are on my mind, my performance DRASTICALLY decreases. it’s freaken weird.

Do you experience this? I’d like to know your thoughts.

    Cheers.

  69. can’t agree more, sounds retarded but i enjoy playing more if iam warm(meh damn windows broken :p ) or had a good rest. there’s stuff you can say about addons / fast connection but you’ll play at your best when you’re awake.. obvious but alot of people will sit there for hours and play teribly

  72. I have down times as well. I’ll do a few unrated matches or a few BGs and see how it goes. If I’m sloppy, I won’t arena that whole night.

    Comment by Feight — September 11, 2009 @ 6:09 am

  73. It’s definitely true that if you’re tired or irritated, you play worse. In my experience, it’s best to just stop if you feel like that. Third day of the season or so, we decided to keep playing a bunch of 3s games even though our priest wasn’t feeling it at all, we ended up losing about 200 MMR :P Wasn’t too bad though, since we were really just working on bumping our team rating up to something decent, and we got it back a couple of days later.

    Comment by Kolz — September 11, 2009 @ 9:34 am

  74. I definitely agree with the above posts. But i have a strange habit of playing my best at late night when ive just got a ton of coffee. The days that i work im going to bed about 12 and waking up at half past 6 and on the weekends i stay upto about 3 am, kinda sick but i like it.

    Comment by Deliwio — September 12, 2009 @ 2:02 am

  75. and @ u Ghortex. Its hard to win sustained in wrath, at least i feel like that. Im trying to think of what can i do to play as reliable as possible, meaning dont counting on saps on opposing rogues and having a plan of what to do if im getting sapped ect. Most other comp beside mirrors (if you are playing double D) and other rogue comps can be controlled by having a strat. When i feel like im playing bad i just quit playing arena, do some bgs and see if i get back 2 shape, if not i just leave arena for the day.

  79. To cut long story short … This is gonna fail.
The game, as we all know, even at the moment is FUCKING SIMPLE! A 12 year old will have no problems in Arena after the 1 month BG farming.

Why the fucking hell do you nerf stats? Less stats, less brain needed to pick up your gear. Do they want 8 years old to rock the arena on 2,4k+?

Removing of defence from items —> HUGE ISSUE!
My main has been feral druid for the whole WotLK ( till I quit some months ago), it was fucking horrible itemization for me, because the “loot council” had a rogue in it and pretty much his ONLY FUCKING EXPLANATION WAS ” there is no + def on that item so it’s not feral-tank prio ” … it doesn’t matter, it gives xxx stamina which rogue won’t need in PvE , what matters is that there is no def on it!
My looting council was crap? Maybe
That rogue officer was a retard? Hell yeah
My guild sucked? Hell no … we cleared Sarth 3d LONG TIME before 3-1 … and you couldn’t actually go higher than Sarth 3d at that time …

Now imagine this “reasoning” is gonna go in 80% of WoW’s guild population and it will now include Paladins and Warriors … Dks? ( now this is a fucking big number of people , especially the last ones, right?! )

Cataclysm is gonna finish off WoW if it goes out with those ideas. The game is freaking simple and broken enough ! Make it more simple? The hell with you blizz

    Comment by Epica — September 12, 2009 @ 4:52 pm

  80. and just to finish this from balance PoV … Worgen … erm … kinda OP?

Are Blizzard fucking nuts to let them go live with the sprint as racial?

Priest + Sprint = Sick possitioning for mana burns/fears
Warrior + Sprint = “WHERE ARE U FUCKING RUNNING AWAY FRO ME ” … oh wait sorry, already got Juggernout
the list goes on and on …

To summerize , are those quotes from Blizzard’s employees? Because I FUCKING LOVE how they use the expression “cool tallents” … Who fucking says ” cool tallents” , if you are not targeting 8-to-14 years old childs? ( and no I don’t mean for sexual abuse) …

    Comment by Epica — September 12, 2009 @ 5:04 pm

  81. Soooooo blizz gives wrogens their own sprint racial, which can be used in arena but they take rocket boots away. Pretyy much if you’re a wrogen you get a racial rocket boots in arena. Rogues should be the only class with a sprint, it helps us get away bc our survivability is sooo god awful. BUTTTTT no! now were going to see wars and every other class being able to sprint with us. A wrogen mage with the racial sprint. My life is over.

    Comment by Med — September 12, 2009 @ 11:21 pm

  82. Its not as fast as rocket boots so its not the same. but i agree with you about rogues should only get sprint. Epica made a good point its going to be the priests, warriors ect that are going to make it extreamly gay. especially frost mages, i mean with out your CDs you already cant kill one soooooo

    Comment by Kubane — September 14, 2009 @ 7:31 am

  83. Your dramatic overuse of the word FUCK is upsetting.
But I have to say, a Sprint racial is definetly useful.
Considering they completely took our Rocket Boots from the Arena.

  90. cataclysm is kinda cool cos we’ll be able to enjoy the classic content again and also the new elemental stuff + new races and such, BUT: wtf blizz? you are getting rid of like half the stats, is your target group 12+? well, i play in germany and here the games is soon gonna be rated 16+/18+ cos it’s so addictive so: fail. i really hope you dont screw up as much as you did with wotlk, otherwise you will lose even more players then you already did.

    Comment by Mínty — September 16, 2009 @ 7:05 am

  91. LET THEM DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT ..you just enjoy the game :D

    Comment by Herfan — September 16, 2009 @ 10:40 am

  92. I have to say … I don’t play a rogue, but even I think sprint should be an abillity reserved for rogues only.

One thing I really couldn’t bare with, as the game progressed during the years, is the fact that Blizzard are trying to make the factions ( and now even the races) more alike.

What’s the point of choosing a faction then? ( or as in Cataclysm , the issue will be with your race)

Isn’t it that all RPGs should make you really consider your choices before making them? Isn’t it, your choice, that makes you to some extend UNIQUE among the other XX XXX players on your realm?

I lived through the fact, that BLizzard made the factions “unique” classes … well … not really unique …. but come on now …

Making a racial sprint? Gnome priests?
Blizzard are trying to make everything have everything … and THIS IS NOT what an RPG is about. Don’t you agree with me?

Eventually, let’s say if the game lives through time ( something which ain’t hard to believe considering it stays on the top of the MMO food chain after four years and a half) , I’m sure we will end up with 1 class,1 race, from which you will have 10 tallent trees ( and maybe sub trees) … this is where the game is progressing to … and I personally would never play that …

World pvp is pretty much shit the racials are far from OP its an rpg class wise not racial this game and all games will forever remain pointless its for entertainment not to get a life experience from it and who cares if they make it simpler we all use spreadsheets or webistes for all are gear anyways i mean theres no way to make it difficult there just making it so you DONT have to waste ur time updating spreasheets this expansion looks good if you dont like it why the hell are u on this site?

  96. we play wow because of its story and because it is a complex game..if you take this away what will become of wow..bomberman ? in the first patch of woltk the first step to mario was paladin and arcane mage..today paladin is still that step
if you want a simple game go play mario and stop playing wow
