New 25 Man raid in 3.2
In the next major content patch, the construction of the Crusaders’ Coliseum on the Argent Tournament grounds will be complete, and it will hold new challenges for players. We’d like to share some details on the new dungeon, which represents the next tier of content for the game, but keep in mind that this is still in development and subject to change. The Crusaders’ Coliseum will include:
- New epic 10- and 25-player raid dungeon with five encounters, with each encounter being unlocked one week at a time
- A more intuitive structure for harder encounters. This raid dungeon will have four different versions: 10-player, 25-player, 10-player Heroic, and 25-player Heroic, with each one using a separate lockout.
- Introduction of the Crusaders’ Tribute! Each of the Heroic mode instances has a new tribute system that will limit players on the number of attempts they get in the Coliseum each week to present a greater challenge for the most battle-hardened heroes. Additional rewards can be earned depending on the number of attempts left in the tribute run each week when the final boss is defeated.
- New 5-player dungeon with three encounters that will include Champion’s Seals as each one is defeated
New tier of armor and weapons that are modeled with Alliance- or Horde-specific themes
Tournament Realm Back up
The Arena Tournament Realm is now available for everyone that previously registered for the 2009 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament.
Please check back here for the any updates to the Arena Tournament Realm Status.
That’s a cool change for those of us who paid for TR. Not sure about the motivation to play arena there, but making premades and playing and meeting people from other realms is always a fun break if you’re bored on live.
Profession Changes
When the next major content patch launches we will be introducing epic quality gems and updating the perks for each profession. Please keep in mind that any of this information may see further changes before the patch launches.
The design recipes for cutting epic gems will be made available for purchase with Dalaran Jewelcrafter’s Tokens and there are several ways to obtain raw epic gems:
- Prospecting Titanium Ore
- Alchemy transmutations
- Purchased with Honor
- Purchased with Emblems of Heroism
Coinciding with the implementation of epic gems and the gain that Blacksmiths will receive through their perk from these new gems, we have gone through all of the perks in every profession and increased their values to match up accordingly.
Alchemy
- The Mixology benefits from Northrend elixirs and flasks have been increased
- Added a new pattern for Flask of the North, usable by players with a high alchemy skill. The recipe is purchased from the honor potion vendor. The Flask of the North increases your spell power, attack power, or Strength for 1 hour, and is usable in arenas. It is not consumed when used.
- Endless Healing Potion and Endless Mana Potion no longer usable in arenas. Amount of health and mana has been increased, and the cooldown reduced. They are still usable everywhere else.
Blacksmithing
- No changes will be made to this profession; it will continue to have the 2 additional prismatic sockets (which can hold the new epic gems)
Enchanting
- Values on Northrend ring enchants increased
Engineering
- Increased benefits from Hyperspeed Accelerators, Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket, and Reticulated Armor Webbing glove modifications
- Embroideries improved
Herbalism
- Increased healing from Lifeblood (Rank 6)
- Lifeblood now scales slightly with maximum health
- Lifeblood no longer affected by global cooldown
Inscription
- Master’s Inscriptions increased
Jewelcrafting
- Dragon’s Eye gems stat bonuses increased
Leatherworking
- Fur Lining values increased
Mining
- Toughness (Rank 6) provides more Stamina
Skinning
- Master of Anatomy (Rank 6) provides more critical strike rating
Tailoring
Embroideries improved
So it’s pretty safe to assume that most of these changes won’t be too drastic, and that they are mostly mean to scale as stats scale and gear gradually improves. Lifeblood off the gcd is a nice change for herbalists, as right now its sometimes hard to squeeze in mid combat. Hopefully some of the changing values will help to improve profession balance but we’ll have to wait and see exact numbers to valuate that.
Epic gems are finally coming out, so you better start saving your gold, or scheming ways to control the new market.
Cat Damage
It is true that Cat DPS may be a little too high, but it is important to also highlight that this is not merely a matter of throwing in a nerf here or there. Adjusting Cat DPS is rather complicated because of the fact that it is a demanding spec to play well.
If we are to adjust Cat DPS, we will have to avoid doing it in a way that makes it a simple matter for the more adept players to adjust, but harder for those of less experience. It is not our intent to punish the less skilled players with a massive loss of damage output.
For a class that buffs melee damage greatly and has the versatility to swap gear and tank just about anything, I think cats need to see about a 5 percent decrease in PvE damage. Not a ton, but enough to bring them just below rogue damage, because theoretically a cat has the exact same PvE role as a rogue. I realize that a feral needs strong damage to keep that raid spot, and like a rogue damage is their job, but giving leader of the pack should mean that they sacrifice at least some damage compared against a rogue.
At least blizz is aware so hopefully we’ll see some adjustment next content patch.

Jesus christ…they promised us a change to Nitro boots ever since the nerf in arenas. Yet, I still don’t see anything about it. Fucking blizzard, how badly can you kill this profession?

ya i wouldn’t expect anything new from eng this patch, pretty lame after they said they would think of some improvement
Comment by Akrios — June 17, 2009 @ 12:35 pm
What’s stupid is pyro rocket is still very useful for burst, so I and probably a bunch of other engis are hanging onto it just for that.
Anyone else think that alchy is going to be a new pvp required prof due to those new flasks?

“It is not our intent to punish the less skilled players with a massive loss of damage output.”
I haven’t played rogue in far too long so do correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I remember, clueless rogues lose loads of DPS if played poorly, right?
Comment by Curset — June 17, 2009 @ 1:58 pm
wow, I managed to screw that up.

I still think it is ridiculous that rogues cannot raid cities anymore due to guards/vanish failing. This is pretty much the only thing I’m unhappy with.

true baby it was hard for me to get wrath of the horde had to run into houses and reastealth
Comment by Reqz — June 18, 2009 @ 9:08 am
This is ridiculous! Rogues will be able to use one-handed axes! Where does the madness end? Do they think we will honestly be happy with such a change?
This makes me mental… Well, what do you think about this change, Akrios?
” Rogue
* After much quiet contemplation, rogues now possess the ability to learn how to use one-handed axes.
* Talents
o Combat
+ Sword Specialization: This talent is now called Hack and Slash and applies to axes as well as swords.”

Seriously when the hell are they going to do something with the nitro boosts? That is the only thing I am concerned with an engineering right now and the fact that they still are very weak but can’t be used in arena is stupid imo.
Anyway hopefully something can be done that greatly helps the game in 3.2.

heres the fix for rocket boots “patch 4.2 rocket boots now grant more critical strike rating” case solved.
Comment by andy — June 18, 2009 @ 11:51 pm
actually, yes. i think rogues will be happy because there are some extremely high damage axes with 1.8 speed and it’ll buff combat which is important for ulduar because you need to be combat for it.

I seriously can’t believe what you said about cat dps. You see pre 3.1 I’ve end up having THE BEST feral gear ingame. Had a full polar and hp set for the over 53k+ hp for Sarth 3d, had Best in Slot on all my slots for normal tanking + the best PvE cat gear ( just didn’t have 2 enchants on because I’m a poor bastard). You see, I’ve been here and there with my feral dudu.
After 3.1 the feral dudu lost a great amount of surv, sending us directly in the back of the line of ALL tanks. For all the freaking tanking nerfs, (which were made TO BALANCE PvP actually ,not PVE … because hf doing arena v.s. 45k+ hp bear with a healer) we deserved SOME compensation , don’t you think?
This compensation came in the role of cat dps. Now, as I agree that our dmg might have seemed insane on some bosses, it’s not ON ALL. That has been Ulduar’s design after all. For some classes to be better than others on certain events.
I’m usually w/e with the QQ of the large number of noobs, but for you to say that cat dps needs fixing … LAL …
Don’t get me wrong, I’m playing a rogue atm, and that’s why I’m actually reading this awesome site. I just really don’t agree with the way you treat Feral kitties, because they ( or we if I count myself) have many issues which rogues will never find a problem. For example, stacking 2 ( or even 3 if I have to be honest) kind of gears ( because the req stats differ greatly ), just being unable to 2v2 and much more.
It requires quite a lot if you want to be a good feral druid PvE wise ( PvP is just so pain in the ass, that’s why I’m playing rogue atm …) the fact that we could kick out a bit of more dps on that boss or another, doesn’t mean we should eat nerf on all of our DPS abilities (Just look at 3.2 —> Shred , Rake , RIP … Cat Swipe )

Oh yeah I almost forgot … 1min cd on Shadowdance … I think it will become a mass spec now. In terms of being more efficient or not I think any first grader can do the math that 10 sec in 2min is less than 12 sec in 2min ( 6 sec on 1min). However the issue is that that’s what … that’s only 3 abilities ( since 3 second will be in GCD) on the other hand we have 5. Two ambushes are A LOT of nuke.
On the other hand that’s a lot more saping,cs-ing in terms of not caring about vanish’s CD …
Strange change …

Comment by Roflpwnt — June 21, 2009 @ 9:03 am
Like always all classes get major positive changes in every new patch, except us Rogues WTF is going on,,,,we used to be the best, they wanna give us axes when real Rogues use imba daggers as a weapon…we need more damage we need less timer on our cooldowns we need more energy and faster energy regen those would be nice and called real buff for our class…
Comment by Silent — June 21, 2009 @ 9:17 pm
Lmao this was the first time ferals became important in the rule of DPS(we can do some dmg only on high HP bosses with 1 target) and now they gonna ruin it, we do have a gr8 raid buff but on the opposite when we have to kill adds that need DPS switching we are lame so if they nerf us they can do it only with the simplifying and reducing dmg and that would be a great setback for wow indeed.
